What is Crime Stoppers?

The Boston Police Crime Stoppers Program highlights
unsolved crimes of violence in the local media, appealing
to the public for information. Our toll free tip line
number 1 800 494 TIPS, is answered by Police Officers and
trained personnel who forward the information to the
appropriate investigators.
You don't have to reveal your identity to the police to
provide information about a violent crime. And, if your
information results in the arrest and indictment of an
offender, you will be eligible for an award of up to
$1,000.

When Can I Call 1-800-494-TIPS?
The Boston Police Crime Stoppers personnel are in the
office from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
After 4:00 pm and on weekends a tip can be left
anonymously on the Crime Stoppers voice mail.
Naturally, if there is a crime occurring immediately we
encourage you to dial 911.
