Background
Gardens for Charlestown is a non-profit, all-volunteer
garden and greenspace organization established in 1976. We
own and maintain a 63 plot community garden and
support neighborhood initiatives to reclaim abandoned or
neglected public spaces throughout Charlestown.
The Garden welcomes visitors during
daylight hours. Further, Gardens for Charlestown hosts
several events every year to which the public is invited. There’s a
midsummer lobster dinner, a flea market just after Labor
Day, and a pumpkin festival for children in early October.
Every other year, the Charlestown Garden Tour is a hugely
popular sampler of Charlestown’s loveliest pocket gardens
and urban oases. Finally, there’s always a prize-winning
Gardens for Charlestown exhibit at the annual New England
Flower Show.
We welcome energetic new members. If you
live in Charlestown and would like to join us, please
register on the waiting list maintained inside the Garden
greenhouse.
