does anyone know when the huge tree fell in Eden Street park? I noticed as i rode by on Sunday...was it Saturday night? I was thinking when i saw it - I hope no people were around when it happened. They would have been seriously hurt.

This is a sad time for Charlestown. We lost a true Townie.

Doug put forth tremendous time to make the rink a reality. Everything from securing permitting, to sponsors, to insurance. Joe Bianco helped him lay down the tarp, build the sides, flood it and then prepare the ice. They made a hand-pushed zamboni to condition the ice daily.

Why did Doug do it? Because he thought it would be great for the kids of Charlestown.

To me, he's a clear example of the perfect candidate for the Charlestown Appreciation Awards. Thanks for ALL you do Doug!
