Mission

The mission of the Charlestown Waterfront Coalition (CWC) is to promote coordinated, community-guided planning and development of the entire Charlestown waterfront and to ensure that its execution meets community objectives.

Background

The CWC will make every effort to encourage and sustain a waterfront of vibrant maritime, commercial, residential and public spaces characterized by:

• A continuous water’s edge Harbor Walk

• Substantial open space

• Appropriate levels and types of construction

• Preservation of the historic character of the Navy Yard

• Housing which accommodates a diverse population

• Sufficient parking and traffic control

• Facilities of Public Accommodation

• Other public amenities which maximize public access to and use of the Charlestown

   waterfront

In order to achieve these goals the CWC will work cooperatively with existing Charlestown community groups and other interested parties to ensure the best outcome for the entire Charlestown Community.
